Keyboards Plus is suited to individual or class teaching with an innovative approach to beginning the instrument at any age.
The first pieces in this book extend the range of notes and rhythms while continuing with single finger chords.
Scale pieces help establish fingering for greater fluency.
Fingered chords (i.e. 'real' chords) give pupils the opportunity of using a greater variety of chords than is possible with single-finger. In this book they are first introduced in pairs, helping to establish good left-hand positions.
Ensemble parts are included with many of these pieces. All the music will sound satisfactory without these parts but they add an extra dimension if pupils are able to play together.
Ensemble parts may be played on another keyboard; only one keyboard should use auto-rhythms but chords are shown on each part so that either player can choose to use them.
One of the parts may be taken by any melody instrument, although some (e.g. clarinet) would need to make the necessary transposition. One effective way is to give the melody to the solo instrument, the keyboard player providing the chords and ensemble parts.
